Chiropractic Treatment For Back Pain
Back pain has become a common problem in people of all ages. Lack of exercise, inappropriate exercise, stress, sedentary lifestyle and human physiology all contribute to one of the most painful and life disrupting conditions we are subject to. Luckily, there are solutions and Chiropractic treatment for back pain is a leading manual treatment that can give relief and a return to pain free activity.
What is Chiropractic and How Can it Help Me?
One of the fundamental reasons our bodies experience pain, especially in our lower back, is due to the misalignment of the skeleton. This misalignment can occur around many of the joints in the body. They can happen as a result of lifting heavy objects, or even light objects, incorrectly.
Poor posture from long hours of sitting in front of a computer has become another leading cause of lower and upper back pain. The end result of these behaviours and habits may eventually lead to reduced mobility as we age. When muscle structures get distorted, excessive stress can result and the nervous system may become sensitized, leading to chronic pain. The pain itself is not the problem, it is rather, a symptom.
Chiropractic procedures seek to adjust and mobilise the bones of your body to correct these misalignments and other problems and help to restore proper function. At the Hunter Clinic, we combine these Chiropractic techniques both with Soft Tissue Release to release tight muscles and with recommendations on Corrective Exercise. Corrective Exercise can strengthen the muscles whose job it is to support and move our skeleton in its correct alignment.
Chiropractic Treatment For Back Pain at The Hunter Clinic
Andrew Hunter, is the head of the Hunter Clinic. He is a 2002 graduate of the McTimoney College of Chiropractic and is a registered with the General Chiropractic Council. As a graduate of the McTimoney College of Chiropractic, it is only natural that Mr. Hunter has fully embraced The McTimoney Method of Chiropractic. The McTimoney Method is well known as a relatively gentle, low-force, whole-body approach to Chiropractic.
The McTimoney method of Chiropractic has been around for over 50 years and was developed by John McTimoney. After falling from a ladder in 1939, Mr. McTimoney started to lose the use of his arms as a result. At the time, surgery was the only option and the prognosis was poor.
He turned to Chiropractic for help and was able to be cured of his problem. So intrigued was he with the healing power of this form of manual treatment, he studied Chiropractic under Chiropractic Dr. Mary Walker and started his own practice in Banbury in 1951.
His work further developed the “torque toggle technique” which has become a standard treatment protocol of McTimoney Chiropractic and is still taught at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic today.
