McTimoney Method of Chiropractic at The Light Centre, Moorgate in the City of London
The McTimoney method of Chiropractic is a low-force (gentle) method of adjusting the bones of the body with the aim of improving skeletal alignment. McTimoney Chiropractic can assist with: Neck, and Shoulder Pain; Sports Injuries; Muscular Aches; and, Discomfort, Stiffness and Pain in Joints.
The joints can become misaligned for many reasons. Some common reasons are:- poor posture, falls, incorrect lifting, stress, plus car or sporting accidents. Sometimes these misalignments may cause restricted mobility, pain, numbness and perhaps pins and needles.
Chiropractor Andrew Hunter DC graduated from the McTimoney College of Chiropractic in 2002. Andrew has been practicing and registered with the General Chiropractic Council since then. Andrew uses the McTimoney method of Chiropractic to focus on patient’s skeletal alignment. Additionally, while working on alignment, Andrew also various methods of soft-tissue release.
Andrew shows patients how their posture and habits of movement (in sitting, lifting and bending) can contribute to back pain. The control and activation of the muscular system, and posture, may also be improved by means of specific corrective exercises. Andrew’s treatment is based on “The Three Rs”: low-force skeletal “Realignment” with McTimoney; supported by soft tissue “Release”; and, corrective exercise for muscular “Reactivation”. The “Three Rs” are a good foundation for anyone wishing to improve their musculoskeletal health.
The late John McTimoney developed the McTimoney way of Chiropractic over 50 years ago. The McTimoney method is a precise, gentle, and whole body approach to Chiropractic treatment. McTimoney Chiropractors work for optimal health through treating the entire person and not just the area that is causing pain. Often the area in pain is not the problem area – it is the “victim” of something happening elsewhere in the body.
This method is only taught in Abingdon (near Oxford) at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic. The Chiropractor using this method is trained to correct misalignments using quick, gentle and accurate adjustments which allow the patient to experience the maximum possible comfort during treatment. The gentle, low-force, nature of the McTimoney Technique means it can be used with patients of all ages.
